THE Wonderland Workshops and Camps began in 2005. Five years later, after a very successful run as Theatre Company in Residence at Mermaid Arts Centre, Wonderland began to hold week-long Children’s Workshops which have been so popular that they have now gone on a nationwide tour of participating venues and The Source Arts Centre is delighted to host its very first workshop this year.

This workshop will uniquely combine a ‘stage school’ with the work of the professional theatre company Wonderland Productions and will take place on the stage of The Source.

Every workshop leader is a professionally-trained theatre/opera practitioner.

The five-day workshop for seven to 12-year-olds will run daily from 11am to 4pm and include a lunch break.

Days one to two with Artistic Director Alice Coghlan and Wonderland lead actor Claire Jenkins, focus on voice, acting, theatre games, comedy and clown, directing and playwriting - and culminate in the chance to make a ‘Play in a Day.’

Day three is a singing, opera and acting day with renowned Irish opera singer Donna Gallagher.

Day four is with Wonderland dancer Amy Therese Flood focuses on dancing, movement and choreography to the children’s favourite tunes.

Day five is the day to rehearse a play, to learn all about how the theatre works with its technical staff, to design sound and lighting with them, and finally to perform a fabulous showcase for all the friends and family. And to celebrate!

The aim of the week-long workshop at The Source Arts Centre is for the children to make friends, to perform, to learn life skills, to encourage each young performer to grow and develop through the performing arts and most importantly, to have the best of fun together!

From backstage to centre stage this fun week of training offers your child a chance to shine.

The Wonderland Drama Workshop takes place in the Source Arts Centre from Tuesday, April 2nd to Saturday, April 6th (11am to 4pm). Tickets are priced at E95 (E85 for two children in same family) and the event is suitable for seven to 12-year-olds.
