All enthusiasts and lovers of traditonal music converged on the town of Cavan over the past week or so, for what as now become the World Irish Traditional music finals. It was a terrific Fleadh with plenty to suit all ardent supporters.

During the week up to the weekend Scoil Eigse was in progress with workshops for almost one thousand students, the branch members who took part said it was a terrific experience and very informative and all came away with a wealth of knowledge from the classes. On the competative trail we had seven members representing our Branch, Cian Hanamy had a great weekend taking First place in English singing and took Second place in both Irish singing and Liltingin the 15/18 age group.

Darragh Carey Kennedy had to settle for Second place after a recall in the 12/15 Banjo final. Michael Ryan like wise also had to settle for second spot in the Senior Whistling final. Despite a terrific performances by Conal Hanamy, Conor Bracken, Jennifer Nolan and Catherine Brown they were over looked by the Judges. It has to be said that all seven members who represented our branch did so with great dignity despite some questionable decisions by the Judgesand all deserved better results, but hopefully they can all come one better next year, and preperations for the new sesson are well in place by tutors and teachers. The plans for the forth comming 50th celebrations are almost completed and details of the events will be known in early September. The Sub-committee in charge of organisation of these events have been working very hard behind the scenes to finalise the events, and great credit has to given to the committee for their input in the planning of the celebrations. Finally best wishes to all members who commence Primary Secondary and Third Level Education in the comming weeks.
