A couple’s happy existence is threatened by a very unusual illness in Michel Gondry’s wildly imaginative fantasy drama ‘Mood Indigo’.
Set in a surreal version of Paris where pianos produce cocktails and doorbells transform into creatures that scuttle down walls when rung, the film tells the story of Colin (Romain Duris), a wealthy young man who yearns for love. When he meets the enchanting Chloe (Audrey Tautou) at a party he is instantly smitten and a whirlwind romance follows before they eventually marry. However, they are not long married when Chloe falls seriously ill, the cause of her malady a water-lily growing in her lung. Colin then realises he must surround her with fresh flowers every day in an attempt to slow her illness until he can find a way to cure her.
In ‘Mood Indigo’ Gondry takes the audience on an unforgettable ride through a Parisian dreamscape, creating a magical film which boasts stunning visual effects and delightful performances from the two leads.
‘Mood Indigo’ will be screened at The Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Wednesday, December 3rd at 8pm.
