Thurles-based outdoor writer and mountaineer John G O’Dwyer has spent a quarter century leading groups through the Irish uplands.
In 2012 he walked the ancient pilgrim trails of Ireland from Slemish Mountain in the Northeast, where many believe Christianity in Ireland had its first dawning to Skellig Michael where in medieval times the known world ended. Each of the fifteen routes completed by the author is described in detail within his latest book Pilgrim Paths in Ireland from Slieve Mish to Skellig Michael.
The book, which is the first attempt to recount Ireland’s pilgrim paths, will be launched by broadcaster Jim Finn in the Watermill, Slievenamon Road, Thurles at 8.30pm on Wednesday, March 27th. All are welcome to attend on the night where the author will present a slide show on his pilgrim journey.
