Exhibition

An exhibition of the work created during 2012 under North Tipperary County Council’s Artist in Primary School Scheme runs at the Civic Offices, Nenagh until March 29th.

The aim of the scheme is to encourage collaboration between professional artists and schools and to encourage positive experiences of the arts across art forms and in all parts of the county.

The Artist in Primary School Scheme funded by North Tipperary County Council’s Arts Office in partnership with The Arts Council was piloted in 1999 and since then 87 projects have been funded in schools across North Tipperary.

The 70 strong Kildangan National School Band performed a wonderful selection of music for the audience gathered led by Reene Hayes and Roisin Maher.

The work of five schools selected under the 2012-13 Artist in Primary School Scheme can be viewed in this colourful exhibition.

The schools and artists involved are: Kate Walsh (with Kilruane NS), Arlene Faye (Scoil Chill an Daingin), Caoimhe Arrigan (Sacred Heart Primary School, Roscrea), Suzannah O’Reilly (Ballinahinch NS) and Paul Finch (Toomevara NS).

The exhibition features ceramics, willow, print and visual arts and the work on show demonstrates an investment by all involved in the projects including children, teachers and artists, who have achieved the ultimate aim of the scheme which is for an artist to take a school on a creative journey true to their discipline.

The exhibition is open to the public from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday until March 29th.
