The final preparations are now taking place for the Roscrea Beo festival which will take place on Sunday week the 26th of August at 2pm in the majestic surrounds of Roscrea Castle.

The festival which is sponsored by Roscrea Credit Union & Roscrea Super Valu with generous support from Roscrea Lions Club, North Tipperary County Council and Shannon Development is expected to draw hundreds of people with lots of activates on offer for both young and old.

As part of the fundraising campaign for the festival a Race Night took place in the Damer Court Hotel on Friday evening last. The race night was organised by committee member Conor Abbott who called each of the twelve races home in his own unique and charismatic way! A big thank you to all who supported the race night in any way.

It is hoped that the people of Roscrea will come out in force on August 26th to celebrate the festival. Historical enactments featuring the outlaws of Sherwood forest taking on the might of the Sheriff of Nottingham will be a huge attraction as will the Lorrha Drama Group Street Theatre. A puppet show will take place on the castle lawn to keep the kids happy and there will be plenty of music entertainment provided by buskers, Roscrea Comhaltas and a string quartet. Some of the old favorites such as the wheel of fortune will feature and throughout the festival which will commence at 2pm there will be walking tours and craft displays to help keep everyone happy. Completing the day will be the Roscrea Miscellany so please do come out and support your town and help us showcase Roscrea to the many visitors we expect to come to the event.
