WITH the Rose of Tralee just over, Thurles is gearing up for its very own version of Ireland’s fondest pageant.
The ‘Rose of Thurles’ is a charity event in aid of Haiti. Although the disaster took place over a year ago there are still thousands of families effected, says organiser Evelyn Roberts.
“The money raided will go to the Haven Charity which are still working flat out building houses schools and playgrounds for the families and kids.”
The event is like the rose of Tralee but instead of countries and counties the girls will represent clubs and business and clubs in and around the Thurles area. The prizes are all being donated by local designer Jennifer Hill who will custom design a tiara for the winner. Also trophies are being designed by local student Aishling Ryan.
The event consists of two nights. On the first night, 29th September, Judges will meet with the Roses,
Escorts and business people. This will take place in the Wytchway Inn, in Holycross. The second night is the big night in HQ nightclub in Thurles, at 8pm.
There is a fee of E45, which includes a sash for business or club. Places are limited so get in ASAP. Readers can find out more information by contacting 086/2642892 or email or Facebook Rose of Thurles.
