Due to the success of this year’s stage production of West Side Story in Rockwell College under the directorship of Ms Lena Hally, five students from the college attended the open auditions for the 25th anniversary year of Les Miserable’s opening in London’s Barbican Theatre. This production is based in Waterford, so many students from youth groups, schools and stage schools in the entire South East region attended.
However four Rockwell students impressed director, David Hennessy, and were casted into principal roles. Thurles’s David Farah (5th) will play Marius, Ause Abdelhaq (TY) will play Javert, Mimi Lane (3rd) will play Epoinine and Colm Summers (5th) will play Enjolras.
Mandy O’Dwyer (5th) and Odhran McCarthy (5th) were also chosen to participate in chorus for this one off production.
Les Miserables will be staged at the Theatre Royal Waterford from April 18th to April 23rd 2011.
