On Friday, November 8th at 7.30pm The New Theatre in Temple Bar, Dublin will host a rehearsed reading of Áine Ryan’s debut play ‘Kitty in the Lane’.
The exciting two-act play focuses on a girl living alone with her invalid father, isolated from the community, her peers and society in general. The play is about breakdown and dysfunctional relationships, the main themes including madness, oppression and loneliness.
‘Kitty in the Lane’ will be presented as a full production at The Source Arts Centre, Thurles in January 2014 - on Friday, January 10th and Saturday, January 11th.
The action of ‘Kitty in the Lane’ plays out over the course of one night. Kitty waits alone in the kitchen. Her father is dying in the room next door. Kitty wishes he would just hurry up. Kitty wishes her boyfriend, late to collect her for an evening together, would hurry up too. Lonely, anxious and still mourning the loss of her late brother, Kitty’s evening is about to devastate or thrill.
