AS part of The Long Way to Tipperary Festival (July 5th to 15th) the Tipperary Excel is hosting the following events.
An Exhibition of Memorabilia - July 7th to 14th (gallery is open 10am-5pm). As part of the celebration of Tipperary Centenary Festival - ‘It’s A Long Way to Tipperary’ - an exhibition of memorabilia will be displayed at the Tipperary Excel Gallery. The exhibition will include a reproduction of posters courtesy of the Tipperary County Library, old newspapers and the Tipperaryman cuttings, photographs and images of Tipperary past and images of the Galtees courtesy of Jimmy Barry. This is a trip down memory lane and how it used to be. All welcome.
‘Under The Galtees’ by Jimmy Barry - July 10th at 8pm. A talk, slide show and photographic display on the history and connection between Tipperary Town and the Galtee’s.
‘Aspects of a Relationship’ by Dr. Denis G. Marnane on July 11th at 8pm. A talk on the British Army and Tipperary Town.
The Good Old Days Concert - July 12th & 13th. A theatrical extravaganza of music, song, dance, humour and melodrama featuring a veritable cavalcade of much-loved local artists - too many for individual mention. Egregiously entertaining, fantastically funny, The Good Old Days concert is a nostalgic and celebratory stroll down memory lane not to be missed! Your host and MC. for the evening is Mr Cathal O’Donoghue, musical direction by Maestro Patrick Marnane and the show has been devised and produced by Mr Michael O’Donoghue.
Dressing up in costume is optional, but encouraged!
