Comedy Shorts is what is promised in a series of four short, short plays coming soon to the French Quarter Café, at The Excel Theatre in Tipperary Town.

These plays are all about eight to ten minutes short and they will on in the café on Friday evenings at 3.30pm and on Saturdays at 12midday and again at 2pm.

Written and directed by Annacarty playwright Paul Maher, whose last play featured a cast list that included Lazarus, Johnny Depp, Cllr John Crosse and Jesus Christ, these short plays are sure to be a conversation topic in the café.

The opening play (on Friday and Saturday February 17th and 18th) is A vote for Michael Lowry which tells the tale of a diehard Tipperary man who finds himself in danger of being given a dose of Cork blood.

Down with jazz (on Friday and Saturday, February 24th and 25th) takes us back to the year 1934 to see if Canon Daniel Kelly and his side-kick from the Gaelic League can save Tipperary from the perils of jazz music.

On March 2nd and 3rd we go back to the Year -1 to see how Joseph comes to terms with not being the father of Mary’s little Messiah, in a play entitled Mary of Judea.

The final play, on March 9th and 10th is about Lazarus and is called All questions and no answers.
