DruidMurphy arrives at the Lime Tree Theatre, Limerick on June 18th-22nd with not just one, but two remarkable plays by Tom Murphy.
DruidMurphy: Conversations On A Homecoming and A Whistle In The Dark return with a string of five-star reviews and a host of awards including best production from this year’s Irish Times Irish Theatre awards.
This is a rare opportunity to see two Druid plays in one week. See them individually or see both together with a special combination ticket offer. These productions were undoubtedly last year’s hottest theatre ticket and were hailed by the New York Times as “epic theatre making”, by the Irish Times as “world-class” with the Daily Telegraph going on to say “attendance should be obligatory”.
Performed by a cast of eleven actors including Marie Mullen, Druid also welcome the return of Maelíosa Stafford who plays the role of Dada in A Whistle In The Dark.
He comes to this role having previously played Hugo in Druid’s 1987 production of the same play. The cast also includes Gavin Drea (Love/Hate), Garrett Lombard (Pure Mule, Alexander) Rory Nolan and Marty Rea.
The return of these productions is part of a nationwide tour that will see the plays also visit Galway, Tralee, Dublin, Portlaoise, Ennis, Letterkenny, Dún Laoghaire and Longford.
The tour demonstrates the Druid’s continued resolve in bringing outstanding world-class theatre to audiences throughout Ireland.
Garry Hynes commented: “Druid’s relationship with the great Tom Murphy goes back almost thirty years and his work has always been very popular with Druid audiences. He is one of the great writers of our time and we’re looking forward to bringing these two plays to Lime Tree Theatre”.
