The last strains of Cavan Girl were swirling in the mists over the lakes as the multitudes of thousands deserted Cavan Town after this years All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil

The standards of competitors were extremely high and this made winning or being placed very difficult. Another major factor was that there was no consistency in the adjudication process and this left competitors in a position of not alone trying to out do the other entries in each competition but also in what could be described as a battle of wits with the adjudicators, what pleased one might totally disliked by another.
