Following our auditions on Saturday afternoon last in the Anner Hotel, Thurles, Director David Heffernan cast the main parts for our forthcoming Calamity Jane , which runs in the Premier Hall from Tuesday March 27th until Saturday 31st inclusive.
We are delighted to report that there were multiple choices for the Director for each and every role and we thank and congratulate everyone who put their names forward. The choices made, will, we feel, result in a fabulous show and will bring great enjoyment to all those who come along to see what we are up to.
Cathy Keane, no stranger to the front line with us, will play the title role opposite Jonathan Gleeson who will play the part of Wild Bill Hickock. Again, Jonathan is a wily campaigner at this stage having played the main role in last years Me and My Girl, among others.
Michelle O’Connell is back in the front line again this year as Kate Brown and Frank Tuohy returns to the stage with us as Lieutenant Danny Gilmartin. Brendan Bailey will be Francis Fryer while Fiona McCullagh plays the part of Susan Miller - both are relatively new members of the Society but have played leading roles with us as well in the past. The part of Adelaide Adams will be played by the very experienced and excellent Maria McElgunn.
There are a number of other roles yet to be decided including, Henry Miller, Rattlesnake. Doc Pierce, Joe, Hank, Peter and Colonel. These will be decided in the coming rehearsals which continue this week.
We congratulate all on being selected and thank everyone who auditioned for their efforts.
There is still time to get involved if you would like to jump on board. However, the coach is about to leave the station, so attendance is necessary this week really.
See you there.
