There were 10 Branches represented at Bord Chontae meeting in Hayes’ Hotel, Thurles on Wednesday 18th January, 2012.
Cathaoirleach Pat Loughman welcomed all those present with a special welcome to Sarah Costigan, from Killea, a new Branch formed with members of Bord Chontae on Friday 13th January, 2012.
Nominations for Leas Cathaoirleach to replace Pat Kavanagh of the now defunct Borrisoleigh Branch, so Tom Cormican of Craobh Sheain Ui Cheallanain was elected.
We had a good discussion on 2012 Bliain Gaeilge and the input Comhaltas hopes to have for the Three Year plan. 2012/13/14.
The C.C.E. Munster Convention will be held in Hibernian Hotel, Mallow on Sunday 5th February. Signing in 1.30p.m.
Munster final of Ceol an Gheimhridh will be in Hospital, Co. Limerick on Sunday 19th February starting at 10.30a.m.
Munster final of Scoraiocht and Plearacha is fixed for Sunday 4th March, venue to be arranged. It is hoped there will be a few entries from Tipperary. County final probably in Gaelscoil, Nenagh.
Pauraic Stapleton, Oifigeach na nOg informed the meeting that the Tipperary Youth Ensemble will hold a Concert in Gaelscoil, Nenagh on Saturday, 28th January at 8p.m. Guest Artists Nora Butler, Eileen O’Brien, Ann Minogue, Paddy Rohan + Co., Local Siamsa Gael Linn Group, Ned Kelly, Willie Fogarty, Tom Lawler and Gaelscoil Trad Group.
2012 County Fleadh Meeting will be held in Roscrea on Thursday 2nd February. Roscrea Delegate Ann Feehan informed us that members of Roscrea Comhaltas are taking part in televised Mass in R.T.E. Dublin Studio on Sunday 22nd January at 11.15a.m., celebrating R.T.E’s and Roscrea’s Comhaltas 50 years in existence.
Just before end of Meeting we met with two candidates for President of Comhaltas - the Election will be held at Congress in Monkstown on 4/5/6th May - Attracta Brady Flautist and Voilinist from Offaly, who was Chairperson of the three Fleadhanna na hEireann that were held in Tullamore. Vince Jordan Accordionist from Bermingham a member of the Council of Britain, well known Adjudicator at Fleadhanna in Eire.
