All roads lead to the Excel Theatre in Tipperary this coming Friday and Saturday 9th and 10th September when Gaudeamus Productions, a new, Tipperary-based non-profit making group present The Irish Ring , a concert performance of the Irish Ballad Operas – Maritana, The Bohemian Girl and The Lily of Killarney.
Tipperary’s own Emma Walsh, a recent graduate of The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, currently studying singing with Prof Susan J Waters in London returns home to sing the roles of Arline, Maritana and Eily O’Connor.
She will be joined by baritone Derek Ryan, no stranger to Tipperary audiences who will sing the roles of Danny Mann, Count Arnheim and Don Jose in The Irish Ring.
The othe principal roles will be taken by three outstanding young professional singers: Sarah-Ellen Murphy (Contralto) from Limerick, David Martin (Tenor) from Dundalk, Co. Louth and David Howes (Bass) from Co. Clare, supported by a chorus drawn from the cream of Tipperary, Thurles and Clonmel Musical Societies together with a full orchestra under Conductor/Musical Director Danny Carroll ably assisted by Musical Director/Repetiteur Mary Rose McNally.
The narrator will be Cathal O’Donoghue and the overall production is devised and produced by Michael O’Donoghue.
