Junior Hurling Result

Cashel KC 3-12

Kickams 2-22

Cashels Junior league progress continued with a very competitive game with Kickhams played in Leahy park last weekend. The game from start to finish was keenly contested and certainly the positives to take from the game outweighed any negatives. The Kickhams team were strong and posed many problems but Cashel have adapted well to this Junior A League and never gave up the ghost clawing back an eight point deficit to just a goal entering the final stages. The visitors in the end added a further late point to seal a four-point win. Cashel will now play our final league clash with Thurles Sarsfields over the coming weeks as the preparation for West Championship continues to gather momentum.

Senior Hurling Result

Cashel KC 0-19

Kickhams 0-14

Our Senior Hurlers opened their championship with a brilliant victory over Kickhams. This game was always going to be a tight encounter with Cashel kicking on in a second half that saw them out hurl their opponents for long periods. In recent years Cashel have struggled to gain that opening elusive win in the championship but 2011 now offers much hope within the club, this team can grow in confidence and push on. While it is early days and just one of five tough games so far Cashel displayed a maturity and composure lacking in recent championships. Some of the scores in the second half came from some neat and intelligent passing with the finishing crisp and accurate. The entire Cashel team are all worthy of a mention and with Golden next up next weekend we can plan with plenty of optimism while remaining focused on another tough encounter. Well done to the players, management and to every Cashel supporter who came out in large numbers to support the team lets see more of the same next weekend.

West Minor A Football Result.

Cashel KC 2-7 Arravale Rover 2-09

Our minors suffered a narrow defeat to Arravale last Wednesday night. The result means Cashel must now play Golden again with the winner playing Arravale in the West final. Going on results there is little between the three named teams so Cashel have every chance if putting in their best display. The football championship now takes a back seat however with hurling now swinging into action. Our minors play Kickams this Wednesday in Dundrum.

Well done to both Gearoid Slattery and Dylan Fitzell on their win over Limerick in the Munster Minor Football Championship. Gearoid played a significant part operating between the sticks he kept the Limerick forwards at bay and deservedly kept a clean sheet with a couple of outstanding saves. Dylan played no part as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury and we wish him a speedy recovery back to club and inter county action.

The club would like to congratulate runai Aidan Hynes and his wife

Helena and family on the birth of their third son Calum James.

Congrats and best wishes from all at CKC.
