This month on www.roscreathroughtheages.org there are some exciting new features.
After the huge success of the WWI exhibition there is a new section featuring some of the material from it. Over the coming weeks it is hoped to publish all the articles, photos and talks from the weekend including the stories of some of the 110 men who died and details of all of them, for example, their regiment where they fought and died and where they were buried. Also, there is a new audio section which will feature many interviews and recordings of local people that were done in 1977. This was when the RTE outside broadcast unit was set up on Barrack Hill during Roscrea Holiday Week and many locals had their own programmes. The first lot of interviews features Tom Larkin interviewing Tim Halpin, Liam T. Maher and Paul Sheridan about the Rugby Club and its history. Also this month in Roscrea Publications is featured a booklet produced in 1958 giving details of the renovation of the Church and the names of all who contributed at the time. It also has the programme of events for the carnival which was a week long that year. If you have any stories, photos that you would like to contribute you can contact Joe at 087 8140137 or email us at email@example.com.
