Fishamble: The New Play Company is dedicated to supporting new and developing writers, directors and producers from the very beginning of their literary careers.

The Source has invited Fishamble to Thurles for three days of immersion in theatre performance, directing and playwriting from April 11-13th. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in making theatre and also for audiences.

Fishamble will present two plays while they are here. Both are written and performed by Pat Kinevane and directed by Jim Culleton. They are ‘Silent’ and ‘Forgotten’.

Pat performed ‘Silent’ at The Source in May 2013 - it prompted an immediate standing ovation and audiences were talking about it for months afterwards. ‘Silent’ is the story of Homeless McGoldrig who once had splendid things, but he has lost it all - including his mind. He now dives into the wonderful wounds of his past through the romantic world of Rudolph Valentino, in this brave, bold, beautiful production.

‘Silent’ has wowed audiences across the world, picking up prestigious awards as it travels.

On Friday Pat Kinevane performs ‘Forgotten’ - a play about residents of nursing homes and supported living facilities as they approach the autumn of their lives. With exhilarating theatricality and haunting honesty Pat Kinevane’s captivating performance brings to life these sometimes forgotten voices of society. Again this show has garnered rave reviews wherever it is seen. ‘Forgotten’ will be followed by a post-show discussion in The Source Bar.

To compliment this theatrical programme is a suite of workshops and masterclasses in directing, playwriting and developing your play for production. They will be delivered by Fishamble: The New Play Company. Just a few places remain on the directing workshop on Friday, April 11th. This is a wonderful opportunity for developing or developed playwrights and directors to work with some of the best professionals in the business including Gavin Kostick, recent Irish Times Theatre Awards winner for Best Play.

‘Forgotten’ features at The Source Arts Centre on Friday, April 11th (8pm) and ‘Silent’ on Saturday, April 12th (8pm). Tickets are priced at €18 (€15 concession) or €25 for both shows.
