Prepare for another Dublin Fringe Festival gem in Thurles. Picture this, the scene is set. On one side of the stage hangs a punch bag, on the other sits an over-sized beanbag. Actress Stefanie Preissner provides two responses to life-altering changes and emotional pain: ‘fight or flop’.
During this performance she reveals her character’s addiction to over-the-counter drugs in an attempt to counteract the depression she feels being an unemployed, dole claiming, and highly educated 20-something in Ireland. Although the subject matter is dark, this play will certainly resonate with a lot of twenty somethings out there who have been left behind while their jammy friends opt for the so called ‘sunnier emigration route’!
