Tree Journeys is the latest exhibition at the Tipperary Excel Gallery in Tipperary Town. This beautiful exhibition by Dublin-based artist Kathy Herbert is well worth a visit and continues until July 20th.
Kathy Herbert has been and artist for over twenty years and during that time she has exhibited in Ireland, England, America and France. Kathy has taken part in many symposia, projects and initiatives. She has also taught, lectured and led workshops.
In recent years Kathy has completed her MFA in NCAD and since then has been working with drawing and sculpture and investigating ways of bringing her work to a wider audience; taking the work out of the private spaces of the studio and gallery and communicating with the general public. Most recently Kathy’s work featured in ‘Sculpture in Context’ at the Botanic Gardens and presented her artist-initiated project ‘Drawing Conversations’ with Phizzfest, Dublin.
Kathy says of her work: “At the moment I am working with the idea of sharing space, joining man-made and natural imagery to imply equal occupancy of the same space. This work draws on the idea of respect for other living beings - animal plant etc and implies that humans are not the only important beings. In the Excel I will show my most recent work Studies from Tree Journeys, made using graphite drawings on paper and some watercolours”.
All are welcome to the exhibition and admission is free. For more information or to book a group visit please contact 062 80520.
