Announcing an exciting music project which will culminate in two spectacular performances during the45th Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival 2013, which runs from 2nd to 10th August. Les Miserables is now the world’s longest running musical seen by over 60 million people in 42 countries.
Birr Stage Guild are excited to produce this classic that sweeps the audience through a range of emotions and themes; poverty & hardship, love & passion, unrequited love & revenge, cruelty & bloodshed in 19th century France.
This concert production of Les Miserables requires a cast of over 50 young people aged 16-20 years to be drawn from all midland counties. Whether you are from Offaly or neighbouring counties of Galway, Westmeath, Roscommon, Laois, Tipperary or further afield and can make it to July rehearsals, you are welcome to audition. This is your chance to participate in the musical event of a lifetime, to sing with a full professional orchestra conducted by Enda O’Connor. Enda is a music graduate of Trinity College Dublin and Royal Academy of Music London.
In addition to being musical director to over 40 productions, he has also worked with several West End productions, including Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera. Participants will also benefit from workshops and vocal master classes with an experienced and professional production team co-ordinated by Maureen de Forge (087 2836675). Auditions take place on Saturday 11th May at Birr Theatre and Arts Centre.Rehearsals will be held during the month of July with performances on August 5th & 6th.
