Audiences at this year’s Terryglass Arts Festival will enjoy a feast of comedy from two of the Ireland’s leading comedy acts who will perform at the festival.
Kicking off the festival on Wednesday, August 15th is Cork-based Snatch Comedy Improv, a closely-knit group of performers who first came together in 2003 to perform original comedy using local talent.
Always popular and hilarious, Snatch recently came first in the Improv Tournament at the Finland International Improv Festival!
They will perform in Terryglass at 9pm following the official opening of the festival.
On Thursday, August 16th Gary Jermyn will entertain audiences with his one man show My Life as a Chatshow Host - the Terryglass Special. Dubbed the poet laureate of Dalkey by none other than Bono, Gary Jermyn is a poet trapped in an accountant’s body.
He is a regular performer at Bewley’s Café Theatre where his sell out shows, Valentine Special, The Return of the King and My Life as a Chatshow Host have all received great critical acclaim.
In My Life as a Chatshow Host characters including Elvis, Napoleon, Kylie, Mother Teresa and the Statue of Liberty are guests on Jermyn’s own fantasy programme.
For this Olympic year he somehow finds himself in a sauna in Finland with his boyhood hero, the long-distance runner Lasse Viren.
There is also a disastrous Valentine’s night in a Chinese restaurant. He also recounts his meeting at dusk with Columba of Terryglass just outside Paddy’s Bar.
This very entertaining show can be seen in The Derg Inn at 8pm.
Tickets costing E8 for the Snatch Comedy Improv and E10 for My Life as a Chatshow Host are available from The Derg Inn, Terryglass.
Tickets can also be booked online on www.terryglassartsfestival.ie from July 16th or by phone on 087 218 1663.
