The Zurich Grenadier Brass Band from Switzerland, attired in their striking Napoleonic-style uniforms, will parade through the streets of Nenagh, on Saturday, October 8, when they make their way from the Abbey Court Hotel to Nenagh Arts Centre to offer their musical talents for Cáirde an Chaisleáin / the Friends of Dromineer Castles on going fundraising activities, to conserve the Lough Derg landmark building.
The world famous band will be accompanied by their patron, Romano Citrini, a long time friend of many things cultural and historic in North Tipperary when he lived in Urra in the Dromineer Parish.
Romano and the Grennadier Brass Band are spending a brief four-day visi in Ireland and the Saturday night concert, scheduled for 8pm, will give the public an opportunity, not only to attend and see a very special event, but also to support a North Tipperary 12th / 13th century tower house, badly needing conservation.
Nenagh Ormond Brass Band will be on hand, too, to serenade the Swiss visitors as they arrive in Banba Square, and, during the concert, Mayor Virginia O’Dowd will accord them a civic welcome. Some tickets are still available from Nenagh Arts Centre; ph: 067-34900, at a cost of €10 each or €20 per family of two adults and two children.
