Action Group Calls For Strong Show Of Support At Public Meeting

The Community Hospital of the Assumption Action Group are hoping for a huge turnout at their upcoming public meeting to seek to maintain pressure on our elected representatives and on Minister for Health James Reilly T.D.

The Action Group was formed further to the closure of 22 community nursing beds in the Community Hospital of the Assumption Thurles last year. The group are determined to ensure that the firm commitment given by Minister Reilly to a delegation from the Action Group in November 2011 becomes a reality. At that meeting Minister Reilly gave a guarantee that all 22 beds will be re-opened and the unit fully staffed following on from a reconfiguration of services in January last.

The campaign to date has been well supported with large numbers turning up at a previous public meeting and public rally on this issue where the three T.D’s in the constituency addressed the crowd.

A key event in this campaign is the upcoming public meeting which will be held in the Tipperary Institute in Thurles on Thursday the 4th of October, doors open at 7.45pm. Local T.D’s as well as opposition spokespersons for health will be in attendance and will be invited to address the crowd. Mr. John Hennessy from the HSE has also been invited to attend. It is hoped that many will show their support and partake in this event. The Action Group are calling on all individuals, any former patients and their families and friends, to turn out on the night to make a strong statement to Minister Reilly and to the HSE. This may be the last chance to make your point of views on this matter known to your elected representatives.

Please show your support for our hospital on Thursday the 4th of October.
