A man was rescued from a lake boat Lough Derg on Sunday night last.

The man, who was conveyed to the Mid-West Regional Hospital following the incident, was found in an unconscious state after his boat ran aground on Tinkers Point at Oilean Mor island.

Eleanor Hooker, RNLI spokesperson, said the RNLI lifeboat was launched at 11.30pm following a call from the Valentia Island coastguard.

“The man was on board but was clearly unconscious and was conveyed to the public harbour in Dromineer, where he was treated before being transferred into the care of the emergency services,” she said.

The man was later conveyed to the Mid-West hospital where he was treated for severe hypothermia.
