With many of the roadways throughout North Tipperary disintegrating rapidly following the recent spate of frosty and then wet weather, members of North Tipperary County Council have decided to put time aside for a special discussion on roads issues - a discussion which will take place on Monday next and which is being given top priority.
Members had to negotiate their way around a number of huge craters on the approach roads to Nenagh as they made their way to the monthly meeting on Monday last - the meeting was adjourned as a mark of respect to the late Seamus Hanafin, father of current Councillor, Seamus Hanafin.
And, such has been the level discontent amongst members of the public at the state of the roads, that councillors agreed with Cllr John Kennedy that a special meeting should be held to discuss the issues.
"The roads are in a desperate state at the present time and we need to do something about it as a matter of urgency. We need to allow time for a full discussion to see exactly what our plan of campaign will be and how we are going to tackle the problem head on," Cllr Kennedy told members and the council Executive.
