A DECISION on whether to grant planning permission for the proposed E460m 'Tipperary Venue' near Two Mile Borris has been postponed, pending a response to a request for further information.

North Tipperary County Council's planning section has set
up a special team to consider plans for what is believed to be the largest such development of its kind in Europe.

The Council had a decision due date of December 22nd, but this has been put back until the developer, Thurles businessman Richard Quirke, delivers a response to a request for information relating to 38 issues. The issues centre on the project's potential impact on business in neighbouring Thurles, traffic, water and effluent treatment, and archaeology.

The developer has six months to respond. Once the information is returned, the Council has another eight weeks to reconsider the proposals. Normally, the Council has four weeks to consider the re-submitted plans. However, a spokesperson for the Council said that when the plans come with an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) attached, Council planners are allowed eight weeks to re-examine the application.

So far, 15 objections or submissions have been lodged with North Tipperary County Council in relation to the 'Tipperary Venue', including one from An Taisce's central branch office in Dublin.

Submissions have been made by; Pat Blake, Ballyerk, Two-Mile-Borris; Ian Lumley, Heritage Officer, An Taisce-The National Trust of Ireland, Tailor's Hall, Back Lane, Dublin; Pat Strapp, Newhill, Two-Mile-Borris; BAM Motorsports, Tipperary Motor Speedway, N25 Cork Road, Midleton; John and Margaret Cantwell, C/o Sean A Ryan, Ryan Architectural Solutions Ltd, 29 Liberty Square, Thurles; Padraig and Janet O'Connor, Farnanavarra House, Boherlahan; Frank O'Donoghue, SEO, Southern Regional Fisheries Board, Anglesea Street, Clonmel; National Roads Authority, St Martins House,Waterloo Road, Dublin 4; Michael Barry, C/o Tipperary Motor Speedway, Tullamaine, Rosegreen, Via Fethard; Christy O'Sullivan, Managing Director, ILTP Consulting, Parkview House, Parkview, Lord Edward Street, Limerick; Liam Hayes (Reps of Thomas Hayes deceased), Middlepiece, Two-Mile-Borris; The Manager, Development Applications Unit, Dept of Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Dun Sceine, Harcourt Lane, Dublin 2; Office of Public Works, 51 St Stephen Green, Dublin 2; Irish Aviation Authority, Aviation House, Hawkins Street, Dublin 2; and Andrew Sulley, SEHO, Health Service Executive, Mid-Western Area, Civic Offices, Limerick Road, Nenagh.
