Tipp Students Recognised At Music & Drama Awards
FOUR Tipperary students have been recognised at the 2012 Leinster School of Music & Drama Excellence Awards which were held at Griffith College, Dublin.
Niall Treacy (from Cashel), Julie Holland (from Clonmel) and sisters Ruth and Maeve Hassett from Nenagh have all been recognised for their outstanding performances at the 2012 Leinster School of Music and Drama.
Niall reached the quarter-finals of the competition beating off competition from 15,000 of his peers. He was selected for his outstanding results in his grade ten speech and drama exam and performed a piece from The Merchant of Venice at the awards ceremony. Niall attends lessons with Eleanor O’Dwyer in Cashel.
Ruth was nominated for her results in her grade five speech and drama exam and performed the piece Sapphire Battersea at the awards ceremony.
Her sister Maeve performed a piece entitled Blanche and was selected for her grade three speech and drama exam results. Both students attend lessons with Geraldine McNulty in Nenagh.
Julie was nominated for her outstanding performance in her grade one piano exam and played Gavotte at the awards ceremony. She attends lessons with Geraldine Molumby in Clonmel.
Launched in 2004 to mark the school’s centenary year the LSMD Excellence Awards are open to the 15,000 students throughout Ireland who took the school’s exams in 2012. The top 250 students who participated in the LSMD exams are chosen to compete in the Excellence Awards.
