The Speech Project - A Multimedia Folk Experience At The Source

The Speech Project

The Speech Project

Four years in the making The Speech Project album is a ground-breaking collection of new musical works by Gerry Diver.

The works are inspired by and incorporate recordings of the spoken word of seminal Irish folk musicians including Shane MacGowan, Christy Moore, Damien Dempsey, Joe Cooley, Danny Meehan and more.

He encouraged his subjects to talk in spiritual terms about what drives them, honing in on the phrases and sentiments that struck the strongest chord.

Gerry asked Martin Hayes what he sees inside his head when he’s playing and what colors he sees.

Damien Dempsey spoke about entering a space where you don’t feel any pain and Christy Moore talked about white light experiences on stage.

Gerry was blown away by the enthusiastic reaction to the album and has armed himself with laptops, videos, screens and a six-piece band – including his partner, the singer and fiddle player Lisa Knapp and taken the whole shebang on the road to rave reviews.

The Speech Project show features musicians including Gerry Diver, plus especially commissioned accompanying videos for selected works funded by Arts Council Ireland’s Deis fund.

This show is uniquely Irish, stunning and beautiful; a multimedia musical experience not to be missed!

The Speech Project will feature at the Source Arts Centre on Saturday, October 13th (8pm). Tickets are priced at E15. Why not make a night of it and come early to enjoy a meal or bar bites at The Source Café from 7pm? Ring Matt on 0504 58858 for more details. The Source Bar will be open from 7pm.
