South Tipperary ICA Members turned out in great numbers for the Autumn Federation Meeting which was held in Cahir House Hotel on Thursday, 4th October. Federation President, Mrs. Peggy O’Brien welcomed the members and introduced the Guest Speaker, Mrs. Caroline McGuigan, CEO, Suicide or Survive.

Mrs. McGuigan said; “in ‘S.O.S’ we are working to build a society where people embrace their mental health wellness and those difficulties are treated with dignity and respect, and experience a service that offers them hope, a safe place and a positive future.”

She added that their main aim is to break down the stigma associated with mental health problems. Suicide or Survive provides “The Wellness Workshop” which is a day filled with practical and easy tips and strategies that will help you to take responsibility for your own mental health. A lively question and answer session followed. Mrs. McGuigan emphasised a number of times the importance of breaking down the stigma that surrounds mental health problems.
