Scoil Eoin News

On behalf of the pupils at Scoil Eoin Naofa we would like to welcome back all pupils and staff to a new school year! We would like to extend a special welcome to Ms. O’Meara and Ms. Moynihan who have joined the teaching staff here in our school.

In sixth class we have begun a very special project in the old folks home at Parkmore. It is our intention to interview a number of residents on the theme of ‘School’ and then, along with pictures, publishing it into a book! We have also been planting daffodils and an poppies in the surrounding gardens. Every week perform a selection of songs and a number of tunes on the tin whistle which is enjoyed by all!

We have also started tennis at Roscrea Tennis Club which is great fun. We are even playing our matches through Irish! We will be starting a tournament called WimbledEoin this week! We are also back swimming and are really enjoying the lessons and the slide!

We have entered our class into the RDS Primary Science Fair, we hope to see if we can grow vegtables in a pollytunnel made from recycled material. When we have collected our research we will hopefully be displaying our work at the RDS next year!

Our Credit Union savings scheme is well under way to help fund our Sixth Class tour to Delphi at the end of the school year. We are all looking forward to three fun filled days in the heart of Mayo!

Finally we would like to extend our condolences to the family of Mareks Pastors who sadly passed away during the summer. We had a lovely mass at the school last Friday. Following this we planted a tree and released a balloon in his memory. By Lauren Landy, Rian Lee & Lorcan O’Meara
