Pillow Talk At The Excel Gallery

A new exhibition is set to open at the Tipperary Excel entitled Pillow Talk - the exhibition is the work of Lora Murphy.

Lora Murphy works mostly in the ancient medium of encaustic. This medium from prehistoric Egypt and Greece consists of beeswax melted with pigment and the hot paint is applied to either panel or canvas. Heat is used at every stage of the painting process and the result is a luscious sensuous feast for the eyes.

“I have always been fascinated by the legends of Ireland and the larger-than-life characters that inhabit them. The cattle raid of Cooley is a mythological tale most Irish people are familiar with to some extent. It originates with Maeve, Queen of Connaught, who compares her wealth with that of her husband, Ailill . . . this is the sorry of Pillow Talk . . . and so it begins . . .”- Lora Murphy.

The exhibition starts on Thursday, November 22nd and runs until January 6th.

For opening hours please call 062 80520 or visit tipperary-excel.com.
