October 4th - All-Ireland Poetry Day

Get ready to celebrate All-Ireland Poetry Day in Tipperary with Paddy Moran.

The South Tipperary Arts Service invite you to a Poetry Evening and Networking Event to celebrate All-Ireland Poetry Day at the County Museum on October 4th at 7pm.

A wine reception will be followed with a reading by guest poet Paddy Moran and an open-mic session of local poetry.

Poets wishing to read their work can register their interest on the night and will be able to read a maximum of two poems (depending on numbers present).

Paddy Moran was born in Templetuohy, County Tipperary where he still lives. He works as a teacher.

His poetry is concerned with how the rural landscape of Ireland is changing and how that creates a longing for the past and the familiarity it held.

His poems have appeared in a variety of periodicals and he has published two collections - The Stubble Fields(Dedalus 2001) and Green (Salmon Poetry 2008). Paddy has won several poetry prizes including the Gerard Manley Hopkins Poetry Prize and was shortlisted for the Hennessy Sunday Tribune poetry award in 1990.

For further information on this terrific event please contact Sally O’Leary, Arts Officer on 052 613 4565 - email: sally.oleary@southtippcoco.ie.
