Hurling News

Congratulations to Sixth Year students Dylan Fitzell, Josh Keane and Simon Delaney who were part of the Tipperary minor hurling panel that were victorious in the All-Ireland final replay on last Sunday. From the centre-forward position, Dylan played a key role in the team’s success. These three very happy students are now looking forward to bringing the Irish Press Cup to the school in celebration.

The First Year hurlers train twice a week and are blending together well. They have already played two challenge games, one against Scoil Ruain, Killenaule, and the other against Doon CBS. Their thoughts are now focussed on the County Tipperary first year hurling blitz due to be staged at Clonoulty on Tuesday 9th October. The junior (U16½) hurlers played the Abbey, Tipp Town, in a challenge on last Friday.

This week, 3rd October, the senior hurlers play St. Joseph’s, Borrisoleigh, in the first round of the Munster colleges Corn Phádraig competition. The senior camogie girls recently took on Roscrea Community College in the first round of the county league. While they came off second best they are more than hopeful of winning ways in the upcoming games.

The U15 hurlers played Scoil Ruain in a challenge game last week. Playing in tough weather conditions in Killenaule, CCS faced into an extremely strong wind in the first half. Scoil Ruain had the better of the contest in this opening half, despite excellent goalkeeping of Killian Hayde, the strong defensive work of Colm Hayde, Cian O’Connell, Robert Wade and Nathan Ryan and the scoring prowess of Colin Ryan, Conor Hickey and Ger Bowne. Half-time scoreline – CCS 1 – 2, Scoil Ruain 0 – 7. Cashel came on top in the second half, with Ger Browne and Colin Ryan adding to their tally. Final score: Scoil Ruain 1 – 10, CCS 1 – 7.

Team: Killian Hayde, Kevin Tobin, Nathan Ryan, Philip Fogarty, Robert Wade, Colm Hayde, Cian O’Connell, James Walsh, Conn Bonnar, Dylan Gubbins, Jordon Moore, Lee Barry, Conor Hickey, Colin Ryan, Ger Browne. Subs used: Ciaran Davern, Shane Dwan, Brandon Duffy, Victor Bourke. Scorers: Ger Browne 0 – 5, Conor Hickey 1 – 0, Colin Ryan 0 – 2.
