Born To Run - The Play

“Only the Boss says when to pull the plug” ran one of the banners at Bruce Springsteen’s concert at the RDS during the summer.

Springsteen enjoyed the distinction of being silenced by the authorities at his concert in London the week before. Anyone who was lucky enough to be at the shows in Dublin would agree that Bruce took the stage with a sprightliness that belies his age - he was 63 in September.

We can’t bring the Boss to town this festive season, but we certainly can give you the next best thing.

Born to Run - The Play is an amazing musical show tracing the life of one of the world’s best performers. It takes us through his humble beginnings with his grandmother, conflicts with his father, his struggling teenage years and on to his breakthrough in the world of rock music.

It’s an honest, humorous yet sometimes sad one-man performance from Co. Tyrone actor Mickey Devlin who gives a stunning performance that really captures the man and his music.

Mixed along with many of Bruce’s epic hits Born to Run – The Play is a great evening out. It’s a must-see for all Springsteen fans or anyone that loves a good old rock and roll story.

Indeed, Barack Obama famously quipped “the reason I’m running for president is because I can’t be Bruce Springsteen”. Enough said.

Born to Run - The Play features at the Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Friday, December 14th at 8pm. Tickets are priced at E15. Why not make a night of it and come early to enjoy a meal or bar bites at The Source Café from 7pm? Ring Matt on 0504 58858 for more details. The Source Bar will be open from 7pm.

For bookings please visit www.thesourceartscentre.ie or call the box office on 0504 90204.
