Retirement - We would like to take this opportunity to wish Fr. Seamus Gardiner every good wish on his retirement as Parish Priest of Portroe. We are very pleased that he is not leaving us altogether and will still be an active member of our community. We would like to welcome Fr. Pat Malone, our new Parish Priest, and hope that he will be very happy here amongst us.

Garrykennedy 10k Fun Run - The Garrykennedy Fun Run which was held last weekend was such a huge success that the Organisers have decided to make it an annual event. There were approx 150 registered walkers/runners from all over the county, some even travelled from as far afield as the USA. Everybody had a most enjoyable day and a sincere thank you to all those who helped out in any way. The total raised thus far is €6,500 approx.

Tipperary GAA Draw - The Sept Draw takes place next weekend. Please return all outstanding money as soon as possible.

Nenagh & District Darts League - The concluding Finals night of the very popular and competitive ‘Summer Singles’ competition took place on Friday night last in Seymour’s Bar, Portroe. The Shield Final was won by Martin Howard, Ballina, who beat Garry Richardson of Nenagh in a very heated final. Third place went to Peter Daly as Anthony Mills took fourth, while the fifth to eighth positions were filled as follows; Paul Crowe, Pat Power, DT Meagher and Paul Jordan. The main event for the top eight finishers in the League saw some great matches, but in the end, it came down to the Port lads in the final, Seamus Sam Creamer and Philip da bucket Slattery. After some great darts in the best of nine, it was Philip Slattery who prevailed. Philip was presented with a lovely trophy which was sponsored by Jimmy Creamer of Nenagh Tyre Centre. The third/fourth place play-off was won by Paraic Shanahan who beat John O’ Meara, while positions five to eight were filled by Ronnie Mounsey, Johnny McMahon, Joe Richardson and Ger Gavin.
