The Late Mrs. Maisie Gaffney - The death occurred unexpectedly at her residence on Wednesday, 2nd January of Maisie Gaffney (nee Flanagan), of Westbank, Blessington. She was formerly of Clonburren, Rathdowney. A regular visitor home she was here a few days before she passed away. She was predeceased by her husband Billy and is sadly mourned by her heartbroken family, daughters Marie and Betty, son Liam, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother Jack, brother-in-law Paddy, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends and everyone who knew Maisie. Reposing was at her residence. Removal took place to Our Lady’s Church, Blessington. Concelebrated Requiem Mass was celebrated and followed by burial in Eadestown Cemetery, Naas where she was laid to rest with her husband Billy.

Party - On Sunday, 13th January the Senior Citizens annual Party was held in the Hawthorn Lounge. The catering was in the capable hands of Sheelagh Maher. The party was the best ever with an outstanding community effort. The food was excellent and all the waiters were local chaps who can be proud of the presentation. The atmosphere was beyond praise where people all rowed in together. Music was supplied by Laurence Campion. There was a huge raffle. A huge thank you to all those wonderful people.
