Rathdowney

The Kings of Hurling - Congratulations to the King brothers Darren and Ross who played blinders for Rathdowney in this years County final at O’Moore Park. It was the first time for the brothers at County level. On the first day Ross scored one goal and nine points, the last point made it a draw with Clough / Ballacolla. Ross was ‘Man of the Match’. On the re-play Ross was joined by brother Darren and between them they scored eleven points and brought the cup back to Rathdowney / Errill. The two famous hurlers are the sons of Councillor John and his wife Bernie. Ross is also a top soccer player, he plays with U.C.D. where he is a student and finds it hard to fit hurling and soccer in his busy studious life. Darren is a student in Limerick College where he studies Wood Science yet he makes time to come and play with his Rathdowney and County club. The boys have one other brother Jonathan who is a Quantity Surveyor. Darren and Ross are off again to play in the First Round of the Senior Club Championship against Westmeath. Well done lads.
