Mullinahone

Hearty Walk - The Walk on behalf of the Irish Heart Foundation will now take place on Saturday, 29th September. Registration at 10.15 a.m. in the G.A.A. Complex. Walk starts at 10.30 a.m. for four and a half miles on a flat scenic route via country roads. There will be tea and coffee in the Sports Hall afterwards. Bring a friend, all are welcome. There will be a bucket collection on the day.

Tidy Towns - The published results of the 2012 SuperValu Tidy Towns competition brought reward to the local committee and supporters during last week. In their second year back in the competition which is always difficult Mullinahone won the South Tipperary Endeavour Award which is worth 500 euro. Mullinahone was judged the most improved area in South Tipperary. We scored 257 marks which was 11 up on last year. This should increase the number of local volunteers who join in with them. Planting of flowers and shrubs for next year is about to start so if you have donations of plants or bulbs from your garden Mary Guiry would be delighted if you contact her. A lot of the black spots have been attended to. Much fine work was carried out in the car park area in front of the church some of which will only bear fruit in the coming years. While the local committee has done great work the onus must be on households or tenants looking after their own areas. Everybody can help but it is still up to those who live on the streets or in the village estates to keep the place looking well and a credit to the parish.

Well Done U/12’s - Our U/12 hurlers travelled to Clogheen on Sunday last to take part in the South Tipp. finals. Mullinahone played Clerihan in the ‘B’ final. In true sporting fashion Mullinahone brought their full panel to the final and all got a game. This is the object of these U/12 games where taking part and improving skill level is the most important part rather than winning. Mullinahone didn’t win but certainly put up a good show. At half time Clerihan led by 0-4 to 0-3 and they were still in front 1-5 to 0-6 at the end. However well done to all the Mullinahone players who took part and to all the supporters who travelled. Well done to those who looked after the panel for the season. Panel: Cathal Brett, Adam Crowe, Jordan Denn, Oisin Drennan, Tara Gayson, Andrew Gleeson, Baylea Grace, Martin Kehoe, Jack Lonergan, Eoghan O’Brien, Daire O’Brien, James O’Connell, Michael O’Shea, Eanna Ryan, Dylan St John, Matthew Thompson and Cillian White. Well done to all.

Television Reception - On October 24th our TV reception will change. If you get your signal through an aerial it’s likely you’ll have to get a Saorview box, ask a friend or relative to look into the matter for you.

Senior Hurling - Our local senior hurlers will play Loughmore in Semple Stadium at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening next in the County quarter final. A huge effort will be required if we are to continue our good record against Loughmore. A special appeal to every hurling follower in the parish to turn out in support. Do you remember Cashel in 1988?
