Bridge Club - Winners on 10th January, John Joe Butler and Michael Ryan, 2nd Carmel Lonergan and Kay Carey, 3rd Margaret Brolan and Delia Cullen, 4th Joan Queally and Kitty Doyle. The second half of the Helen Quinlan Memorial Trophy competition will take place on this Thursday, 24th January commencing at 8 p.m. sharp.
Deepest sympathy to our esteemed Treasurer, Kay Carey on the recent death of her sister Josephine Behan (nee O’Dowd), Urlingford. May her soul enjoy eternal rest.
Sive - Moyne Variety Group which was founded in 1978 and branched into Drama in 1992 put on a super show with its interpretation of John B. Keane’s “Sive” which played to a packed to capacity Source Theatre, Thurles on January 18th and 19th. Audiences were treated to a wide range of emotions from the hilarity of the exchanges between “Mena” played by Geraldine Delaney and her mother-in-law “Nana Glavin” played by Maureen Claffey to the tragic demise of “Sive” which drew tears from many eyes. Congratulations to all nine members of the cast and their Director, Susan Troy on an excellent show which was really complemented by a wonderful set. Well done to all concerned.
The group now take on the challenge of the Confined Festival Circuit at seven different venues commencing at Rush, Co. Dublin on February 21st and continuing in Carnew, Charleville and Holycross etc., We wish the members well and feel sure their efforts will be crowned with success.

Late Anne (Nan) Geehan - The death occurred on January 18th of Anne Geehan (nee Grimes), Kill, Thurles and formerly Lisheen. Nan was a wonderful lady to attend funerals particularly in her native parish. She was getting ready to attend the funeral of her friend and neighbour, the late Molly Sweeney over six years ago when she suffered an illness from which she never fully recovered. Removal was from her residence to Loughmore Church. Principal celebrant of her Concelebrated Requiem Mass was her nephew Fr. John Cantwell, Sacramento, U.S.A. and formerly Ballyerk. Deepest sympathy to her sons Ger, (Crannagh), Jim and John, daughters Marie, Margaret and Anne, sister, Sr. Valerian, O.P. Capetown, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sister-in-law Nora, grandchildren, great grandchild, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May her soul enjoy eternal rest.
