Solemn Novena - Huge numbers were in attendance at the final sessions last Sunday of the Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. On the opening two days there were big numbers but from there on bigger they were getting.

The news that it was in progress had spread out, thousands more came to intercede with a petition to Our Lady, others came in thanksgiving. A most successful Novena is acclaimed with many in hope of participating in the 2013 Novena, you could hear them say as they bade each other adieu on the final night. Meet you here next year p.g.

Meeting - Ballycahill Community Hall Committee will hold an open meeting on Wednesday, 26th September at 8pm in Community Hall. All parish groups/individuals are invited to attend, to discuss future use of community hall. Ideas from all age groups welcome.

Tidy Village, Points Up - Holycross in this years Tidy Towns Competition received 287 marks out of a possible 400, 4 marks up on last year. We are very pleased with the results, we are progressing in the right way. The adjudicators final remark (under the heading General Impression) was “I must compliment you for the way you are maintaining this lovely village in such great condition in a consistent manner over the years. It was a treat to stop and spend some time here to enjoy the surroundings. I could see the “footprints” of an imaginative and enthusiastic people all over the village, well done. Our committee will continue their endeavour during the coming year and would love if more helpers, ladies or gents would become volunteers.

Cabragh Wetlands - The Autumn Equinox will be celebrated on Monday, 24th September at Cabragh Wetlands. The theme will be gratitude for the harvest and the earth and will include aspects of archaeology, mythology, story and customs relevant to the Equinox with special emphasis on local practices relating to the celebration of Michaelmas. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Albanian Building Fund - Those wishing to donate confectionery, cakes, buns, tarts etc. for the Ballroom competition in St. Michael’s Community Centre in aid of the Albanian Building Fund may hand in items on the day of the competition between 2.30 and 4.30 p.m. and after 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, 22nd September.

Computer Course - In Community Centre each Monday starting this Monday 24th from 9.30 to 11.30 a.m. Improver level from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Beginner level. Places limited, free of charge.

Set Dancing Classes - Adult Set-dancing classes will resume in the Community Hall, Holycross on this Thursday night, 20th September at 8 p.m. All welcome.
