Parish Magazine - Anyone who has photos or articles of interest that they wish to have published in the parish annual magazine “Echoes of the Hills” please leave same in to the sacristy as soon as possible.

Novena - The parish Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour will be held from Saturday, 20th October to Sunday, 28th October in St. Patrick’s Church, Kilcommon. Different speakers each night.

Recent Deaths - We tender sympathy to Nora Shanahan, Foilmacduff on the death of her sister Mary O’Brien, Palmerstown, Dublin and formerly of Doon; also to the wife, family, father James, brothers and sisters of Pat White, Greenfields, Cappawhite. Pat lived at Metal Bridge for a number of years in the early 1980’s.

Month’s Mind Mass for Connie Fitzgerald, Luton, England and formerly Piperhill will be said on this Sunday, 14th October in St. Joseph’s Church at 11 a.m. We tender sympathy to Fiona and John Ryan, Piperhill and to Una Moloney, Foilmacduff on the death of their uncle Connie. May they rest in peace.

The Late Nora Quirke - The parish lost its oldest citizen on October 1st with the death at her residence of Nora Quirke (nee Ryan), Ballydoagh, Milestone following a short illness. Nora enjoyed excellent health all her life up to a short time before her death at the age of 94 years. Nora was a wonderful wife and mother, she and her late husband Jim reared a family of one boy and five girls. She was a skilled cook and homemaker and her friendliness and hospitality was legendary. Removal took place from O’Dwyer’s Funeral Home, Upperchurch to St. Joseph’s Church, Hollyford on Tuesday evening, 2nd October. Requiem Mass next day was celebrated by Fr. James O’Donoghue C.C. Hollyford; Fr. Dan Woods P.P. Kilcommon; Fr. Dick Browne P.P. Cappamore; Fr. Francis McCarthy C.C. Moyglass and other clergy. Burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. Nora was predeceased by her husband Jim and daughter Joan (Purcell). We tender our deepest sympathy to Nora’s son Noel, daughters Betty, Anne, Nora and Bernie, sisters Mary, Sadie and Josephine, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and her many friends. May she rest in peace.
