Donaghmore - Ballybrophy

Donaghmore Field Day - The organisers of the Fundraising Event held at the Swallows’ Quarter, Donaghmore on Sunday, 16th October would like to thank all those who supported them both on the day and in preparation for it. Once again we thank the members of the Laois Hunt for their ongoing support; the Donaghmore Vintage Club for the use of their premises; Mr. Eric Leahy and friends for the Thrashing; the Irish Vintage Engine and Tractor Association and many others who gave generous sponsorship, support and assistance. Events also included stone crushing, an auction of various items, sheaf pitching, cakes, country produce, bottle and book stalls, wheel of fortune, guess the weight of a lamb, wheel changing, ice cream, footing turn, wet sponge throwing, teas, barbecue and a children’s area which included face painting, lucky dip, golf putting and indoor fishing. Above all we are most grateful for the tremendous support which was received from members of the local community and from much further afield without which we would not have had such a marvellous and successful family day. Heartfelt thanks to all concerned.

Good News - The Kilcoke road has been a source of great worry to all drivers for a long spell. At last we have good news due to the continued efforts of Councillor John King, a wonderful job has been done, the greater part of the road has been resurfaced, well done to the County Council and John King.
