Cassie, the thief of hearts needs a home

Cassie

Cassie

Let me explain, I have stolen, I have stolen the hearts of all here at the Rescue centre and I am not ashamed. I am safe now here at the Rescue but it was not always like this.

Have you ever been let down by people? Well I have. I am only about 9 months old and I have suffered so much in my young life. I did not ask to be born but I was. My Mom looked after me until it was time for me to leave my Mom and siblings. Those were the good times. Mom made sure I had plenty of milk to drink and that I was never hungry. All that changed when I went to my new home. It was ok for the first few months. I was, after all, a very attractive puppy and I was a novelty but then they grew bored with me. That is when the bad times came, one meal instead of two, no walk, locked in my pen outdoors. I had been welcomed indoors at first and although I had not made a mess in the kitchen, I was banished outdoors. It was so cold, I was never dry, I was always hungry and I longed for some attention. I missed being spoken to and cuddled. I missed being part of the family. I did not understand why I was ignored. I had given my heart to my new family but they no longer cared for me. This went on for a very long time until they did not even want me in a cold, wet pen in the garden. I was discarded, thrown out and left to fend for myself. I wandered the busy streets looking for something to eat, anything, even a food wrapper to fill my empty belly.
