Devilsbit Macra na Feirme AGM

The AGM of Devilsbit Macra took place recently in Michael Finns, Templemore.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman Padraig Meade spoke about our achievements over the past twelve months, including a successful recruitment campaign which doubled our active membership and our participation in as many Macra competitions as practically possible. He said that our greatest achievement this year was our set dancers winning our first ever All Ireland Final in the Helix last May. We also won the North Tipperary rounds of Know your Ag, impromptu debating, public speaking, comedy Act, Novelty Act and beef and sheep stockjuding competitions. Joe McGrath represented North Tipperary at the Mr. Personality Competition. Charity work is also a big part of what we do and this year we donated money to Console, Hospice and Pieta House. We took part in the recent Relay for Life in Toomevara. The Chairman announced that this year Devilsbit Macra will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of its foundation. We will be holding a number of events to mark the occasion and to mark the achievements of Macra na Feirme in the Templemore-Roscrea areas over the past fifty years. Finally he thanked the outgoing officer board for all their hard work and wished the best of luck to the new Committee. The following were elected for the coming year, 2012 - 2013 Honorary President Michael Finn, Chairman Padraig Meade, Deputy Chairman Cllr. Gerard Fogarty, Secretary Catherine Maher, Treasurer Sarah Guilfoyle, PRO Tim Maher, Competitions Con McGrath, Social Officer Arthur Griffin, Young Farmer Joe McGrath. Congratulations to Tim and Catherine Maher who won Macra Leadership Distinction Awards representing North Tipperary. Their Awards were presented to them at a special banquet held in Ennis last weekend.
