St. Josephs Young Priests Society

News from the diocesan meeting.

Diocesan Meeting - Parish Centre, Thurles October 4th, a representitive group of delegates attended our meeting. Joan 0’Brien, President, Maura Stapleton, Secretary and Marie Buckley, Treasurer looked after the business of the meeting. Fr. Gerard Hennessy efficiently steered us in the spiritual direction. Reports from branches showed good progress, while a few branches have ceased to function, but le cunamh Dé they continue to remember the prayers which are of paramount importance. To help in renewing interest in the Society John Harold Barry intends to speak in parishes exhorting people to support St. Josephs.

Year of Faith - Father Hennessy reminded us, that we begin to celebrate the Year of Faith, extending from October 2012 to November 2013. What a fitting time for this celebration following on from the great Eucharistic Congress and remembering the opening of Vatican 11 Council fifty years ago.

Vincent Stapleton - The highlight of the night was the visit of Vincent, a fourth year seminarian in Maynooth. He is doing parish work in Thurles, to experience this aspect of priestly life. Vincent expressed his appreciation of St. Josephs, in our support spiritually and financially, without which seminarians could not overcome the obstacles that life throws up. Beannacht Dé ort Vincent agus ar na micleinn eile.
