National Trails Day Walk To Cabragh Wetlands

All you walkers out there, be you Sunday family strollers, fitness fanatic power-walkers or serious mountain trekkers, are invited to take part in a local Thurles walk on Sunday October 7th, to celebrate National Trails Day.

This is a great chance to try out a relatively unused route from Thurles out to Cabragh Wetlands and to follow a less frequented section of the Suir.

This will not be a long walk, perhaps 90 minutes for those travelling at a steady speed. The start will be from Lar na Pairce car park, Slievenamon Road, at 11.00am, and the route will head down to the river, winding along the banks to the Sugar factory and out to Cabragh Wetlands. There will be a cup of tea and something to eat at the Wetlands, and the chance to take a stroll around the footpaths in Cabragh, getting close up to nature in some timeless and very beautiful countryside. There will be arrangements to take drivers from Cabragh back to their vehicles in town.

Wellies or walking boots are advisable. The walk will be led by the inimitable John G O’Dwyer, and sponsored by the Cabragh Wetlands Trust. Phone 0504-43879 (daytime Monday-Friday) or 086-3179919 for more details.
