Autumn Challenge Heads West

The leaves are falling, there’s a chill in the evenings and each morning the dawn light peeps a little later through our window panes, which means that once again it is time for the annual Autumn Charity Challenge which offers a last opportunity to savour the great outdoors before the dark evenings envelope us once again.

This year’s event, which has already attracted well over 100 participants, takes place from October 12 to 14. Those taking part will have an opportunity to explore the unmatched scenery of Burren with an excellent walking programme for all fitness levels which this year is based at Lahinch, Co Clare.

All that is required now is kind weather to ensure a great time for all on a long established and highly sociable walking event that for over a decade now has raised funds for the worthy cause of visually impaired people.

If you would like to participate on the weekend, there are still about 10 places left and the cost is just 159 euro including 4 star hotel accommodation with dinner. Further information can be had from Michael Sutton, 17 Willowmere Drive, Thurles Co Tipp; tel 086–4009989; email : michaelsutton1949@gmail.com

Meanwhile, the usual high and moderate level walks organised by Mid-Tipp Hilwalkers will depart from outside Cashel firestation at 11am on Sunday next, October 7. All suitably attired walkers are welcome to join in for the moderate walk. Further
